Polyurethane floor finish fill low spots. Say you ve got a 1 000 foot floor and two gallons of finish. You re on your last stretch and realize you re running out of finish and may not have enough to finish the job so you start putting more pressure on your applicator and begin squeegeeing out finish to ensure you get a coat on the whole floor. It would have been easier to finish the initial application let the finish dry for a couple of days then wet sand it down to a dull sheen with 400 grit wet dry paper using water with dishwashing liquid in it as a lubricant. It had little round spots all over it that the polyurethane did not cover.
To combat the textured surface cleaning challenges too many customers or janitorial services choose to apply a finish to fix these problems thinking that the cured finish will fill low spots in the wear layer and negate the textural challenge to maintaining the product. I put a final coat of polyurethane on my wood floors and noticed that i missed a spot where my roller didn t overlap in application after the floor completely dried i tried touching it up by rolling on some poly but the finish is matte and somewhat cloudy from what i first applied.
